Matt Cato is the Director of the Office of Life, Justice & Peace for the Archdiocese of Portland where he represents Archbishop Sample on matters of Catholic social teaching and supervises the programs of the office: the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, JustFaith, Parish Social Ministry (Respect Life and Peace and Justice Ministries), Catholic Relief Services and Faithful Citizenship.
Before joining the Archdiocese, he and his wife Lisa established the Social Justice Ministry at St. Juan Diego Parish, located in Portland, Oregon. For six years they were also the co-chairs.
Born and raised in the Chicago area, Cato attended the University of Notre Dame. He moved to Portland to attend the Lewis and Clark School of Law and never thought about leaving Oregon.
